San Diego County’s nonprofit sector has an opportunity
to create the future of our region instead of only responding
to its challenges. For this reason, on January 24th LEAD San
Diego, The San Diego Foundation, San Diego Grantmakers and
Sempra Energy launched a four part series of forums where
the community will define a regional vision for a high performing
nonprofit sector and begin to identify the steps needed to

The Core Curriculum is a series of nine issues-oriented seminars
held from September to May for one full day each month. Described
as a "Master's Degree" on San Diego, it provides a
big picture of the major issues facing the San Diego region.
These seminars are created by the LEAD staff and a committee
of LEAD graduates, with the aid and expertise of area decision-makers.
Approximately 50 class members are selected to participate each

As part of their curriculum and development, the 2005 LEAD
Class divided into Leadership Action Teams in the fall, and
were deployed to work on community projects, which were drawn
from community-based organizations and grassroots community-building
efforts in San Diego County’s low-or-moderate-income/traditionally
